The new messenger is a part of a suite of over 20 new Microsoft products being
gradually released to the market under the label Live. That includes the new mail,
search, security, shopping, toolbar and office suite.

In the words of Martin Taylor, corporate vice president of Windows Live and MSN at
Microsoft: "Windows Live is all about giving consumers the tools and services they
need to be in control as they stay connected to the people they care about, on top
of the information that is important to them, and better protected across all their
online activities,"

The VoIP feature of the new messenger is being provided through Verizon Web Calling
and supports both domestic as well as international phone calls. The service is now
being supported in local languages and currencies, including customers in Austria,
Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, United
Kingdom and United States.

\"Now Messenger users have quick, simple access through the Windows Live Messenger
toolbar to high quality PC-to-phone voice calling as a benefit of using Verizon
Business\'s expansive global network and extensive Voice over Internet Protocol
(VoIP) technology.\", said Henrik Liungman, director, Verizon Business.

As for the video in Live Messenger it is on par with that in Skype. There will be
also coming to the market webcams, phones and other gear specifically designed to
accommodate the new messenger.
